Haze Vaporizer Review (V3)

The Haze V3, or Version 3, is made by Haze Technologies and is the third in a series of vaporizers that have been rather successful. The Haze has dual bowls and can be used for both herb and wax or e-liquids. In fact, you don’t have to choose one or the other – you can vape different materials at the same time because it comes with cans that can be attached to it for concentrates. The second Haze was also good but it had mouthpiece problems. Haze Technologies has fixed it by adding a lip to it. It sells for $249 which may sound like a lot but if you can spare that kind of cash it is definitely a vaporizer worth having. Here is a full review.

Haze V3 Dimensions and Discretion

The best way to describe the Haze V3 is a small flask – you know the one that you can use to carry alcohol around. Since it is made out of stainless steel it weighs a bit more than other vaporizers in this category but it can fit in a pocket quite easily and can also be hidden away in a hoodie. If you really want to hide it the best place to keep it is in a backpack. It weighs 193 grams and has 2 chambers, is 4 inches tall and a little more than 3 inches wide.

Temperatures and Heating

The heating system on this one is pretty cool. It is actually a heat exchange mechanism – it pulls cool air from outside which is then heated as it enters the chamber and is cooled again as it leaves the unit. This allows for battery conservation. Since it is a patented heating system there is no other vaporizer that uses this technology. You can get it ready for a draw in between 50 and 60 seconds which is longer than several other vaporizers in this category, but once it is hot it gives you pretty consistent temps throughout your vaping session. All herb is burnt quite evenly and you don’t have to stir to freshen things up.

Dual Chamber

This is the first vaporizer in the market to have a dual chamber that works without any hitches. You can use it to burn herb, concentrates or oils using the cans that are included. The unit has 4 screens – 2 for convection and 2 for conduction. I have tried all using all the cans and I got the best results when I used the all purpose can burn herb. You should grind it really fine and then pack the chamber tight for the best vapor quality. You can get around .2 gram into the can and that is just enough for one person, maybe for 2 if you want a short and less intense vaping session. If you want to pre-pack bowls (like when you will be outdoors for a while) you can buy extra cans – they are just $10.99 for a pair.

Battery Life and Charging

The unit comes with 2 additional lithium batteries that have to be charged externally (3200mAh li-ion 18650 3.7 V). This battery is much better than what was in the Haze 2.5. The batteries, I must say, are what I like most about this vaporizer – you can have the extras charged and ready to go if you will be away from an energy source for a long time. I am able to get 4 sessions on a fully charged battery, with the average session lasting about 15 minutes. This can vary based on the kind of herb you are burning, how finely you grind it and also the can that you are using. The kit includes a charging dock that can be used to charge both batteries at the same time. You also get a car charger. If you really want to make the most out the Haze 3 you should always have an extra battery that is fully charged.

Haze Kit

The kit includes a cleaning brush and a scoop but these are nothing new – many brands have them. You do, however, get 2 different mouthpieces, one which is all glass and another which is made of stainless steel. Some people say that they get better flavor with the glass piece but I must say that I haven’t noticed much difference. I prefer the stainless steel only because I think it is better looking.

Warranty

You get a pretty good warranty – 10 years on materials and workmanship. You are however not covered for degraded performance over time, batteries and the mouthpieces are also not covered. I must say that this is a pretty good deal because overall I have found the Haze V3 quite a sturdy piece – you don’t have to worry about it coming apart even when you share with another person.

Conclusion

So long as you are in for varied vaping experiences, the Haze V3 is definitely a vaporizer you should consider – you can vape herb, wax, and e-liquid or a combination of any two at the same time. Because of the dual bowl, it is easy to pack and also quite easy to take apart for cleaning. The temperature settings can be changed at any time during your vaping session and I also like the fact that I can use different kinds of herbs with the same great results.

The 10-year warranty is reassurance from the manufacturer – they are confident that this unit will last that long. Haze Technologies takes feedback very seriously and they are constantly making changes based on it. I am looking forward to seeing what they will have for us in the future. I expect that they will improvements on the Haze V3. Make sure that you get your Haze V3 vaporizer from an authorized vendor – your warranty may otherwise be voided.

If you are not convinced that the Haze V3 is not really the vaporizer you are looking for I would advise that you try the Firefly 2. It is a portable vaporizer that heats through convection pretty fast – it is ready for use in between 5 and 7 seconds, one of the fastest in the market. I must say that I really enjoy using mine for both herbs and concentrates. It is also very small and therefore easy to carry around.

Mighty Vaporizer Review

Storz and Bickel have created yet another winner – the Mighty vaporizer. Before it, they brought us the Crafty and the Volcano, which were both bigger than the Mighty but which had shorter battery lives. In fact, the Mighty has the best battery life of all portable vaporizers I have used. I have given it a rating of 9.2 out of 10, which makes it quite a winner as it is the 4th best I have tried and that is saying something since I have tested more than 100 vaporizers. It is small which makes it portable and because it uses both conduction and convection heating it gives very consistent results.

It is also very easy to use and you can control heat settings using buttons on the device. I have already said that it is portable, but I must mention that if you are looking for discretion you might want to try smaller brands in the market. Otherwise, if you are after great battery life and a great vaping experience then this is the vaporizer for you. It is also a bit pricey, retailing at $349.

Mighty Dimensions

The Mighty is not easy to hide away in your pocket – the best way to carry it around is in a backpack or in a purse. It is 5.5 inches tall and has a diameter of 1.2 inches. It weighs 230 grams which are quite heavy compared to the Crafty which weighs only 135 grams or the PAX 2 which weighs 90 grams. The Firefly 2 is also lighter, weighing 140 grams. Size doesn’t deter the usage; I like to take it about with me when I am with friends because I know that it will work for a long time without running out of battery. It is also a great vaporizer for novices. If you plan to do the same with yours don’t plan to put it in your pocket as it will stick out – a backpack or a purse is best.

I also like the Mighty for group vaping – its size allows it to be passed around from friend to friend and because it is sturdy you don’t have to worry about it coming apart. It also remains cool despite long usage as it has fins that absorb all the heat that it produces.

Heating And Temperature Selections

This vaporizer uses both convection and conduction and thus is classified as a hybrid vape. As a result, you get dense and very tasty vapor all through till the end. You don’t even have to stir your herb to achieve this. You can easily control the temperatures using buttons on the device and you can see your heat settings on a LED 11 display. Temperatures range from 105F to 410F and can be adjusted at any time during your session. I like this because it allows me to use different kinds of herbs and get the same amount of satisfaction, and also because I can use the different temps to vary my vaping experience. It is important to note that the Mighty doesn’t come with an app like many other new vaping devices in the market but this doesn’t limit it in any way since you can control all settings on the device itself.

The heating time before you can take your first draw is about 1.5 minutes, faster than its sister the Crafty but slower than many other brands in the market. That said, once it heats up it will keep its temperature throughout even in freezing conditions.

Chamber Capacity, Usage, and Packing

You can get .3 grams of herb into the chamber if you like to grind yours fine, but if you like looser grinds you will be able to fit in a little less, maybe .25 grams. With a full chamber am able to get about 12 draws, which is great if you like to vape fast. To get it on all you need to do is press the power button. Once it is on you will be able to see your selected vape temperature that you can adjust to your liking as well as the amount of battery life that you have left. This makes it easier to use than many other vaporizers in the market. You get a Filling Aid for loading the chamber that allows for you to put is herb without spillages – attach the aid, pour the herb into it and it is ready to go. Once your herb is in you attach the cooling fins and you are ready for a session. There are videos online to show you how that do this.

Battery Duration and Charging

As we have already mentioned, this is where the Mighty leaves the competition in the dust. It has a battery that is better than all other vaporizers in the market and by the look of things, it will be holding that position for quite a while yet. On average I get 8 sessions on a full battery which is about 90 minutes of non-stop use. You can also use it as it charges it pass-through). There are many vaporizers on the market that use pass-through charging but they usually need to have a battery level of higher than 20%. The Mighty is unique because you can plug it in when it is ay 0% and you can use it right away. You may think that because of the extra battery power it takes a long time to get charged but I have found that I am able to get it full in about 2 hours. You will be happy to know that it comes with extra batteries.

Mighty Compared to Crafty and Firefly 2

Here again, I have to talk about battery life. The Mighty doesn’t compare to the Crafty or Firefly 2 when it comes to how long you can use it without charging it. So long as you aren’t too concerned about concealment this is really the vaporizer to buy. The only reason why I rated in 4th is because if its size. I give the crafty, Firefly 2 and the Grasshopper a rating of 9.3 out of 10 only because they are smaller.

It is worthwhile to talk a little bit about each of these. It is very discreet and can easily be hidden in your palm. It is also very easy to use and you can control heat settings through an app on your smartphone. The marked differences between the Crafty and the Mighty are size, concealability and also the size of the cooling unit. Heavy users will prefer the Mighty not just because of the battery life but also because it doesn’t heat up at all. The vapor quality happens to be more or less the same in both the Mighty and the Crafty. In a nutshell, you have to decide whether you prefer discretion over battery life.

The Firefly 2, however, dominates when it comes to vapor quality and also discretion. It is lighter and it is ready for a draw in just between 5 and 7 seconds. You can get it heated up and have a session of several draws before the Mighty gets going. It uses convection heating and is heated through a li-ion battery which is replaceable and which gives you between 3 and 5 bowls. You can use it with both herb and wax – in fact, it is my go-to vaporizer anytime I want to use concentrates. The drawback to the Firefly 2 is that it requires quite some technique to use and a beginner might find it a bit frustrating.

Mighty Kit

This vaporizer comes with the usual trimmings but the Filling Aid is unique. Not only does it allow for faster filling, it saves herb that would otherwise get spilled.

Warranty

I must say that I am not very impressed with the warranty on this one – it only lasts 2 years. That said, you have to keep in mind that it is made by Storz and Bickel, one of the most reliable manufacturers around.

Conclusion

If you aren’t too concerned about hiding your vaporizer then the Mighty is definitely worth your while. You can use it on the go, you can use it for group sessions, you can use it for a long time without worrying about the battery, you can use it outdoors – all these things make it one of my favorite vaporizers. The vapor quality is great, it is easy to use and you get consistent results throughout. However, you choose to pack the chamber you can be sure that the results will be great. The only thing that makes this vaporizer not rate higher is its size. I would recommend it to anyone who can afford it – you will be very happy with your vaping sessions every time. Look for a vendor that includes a grinder – it doesn’t come as part of the original kit but there are some vendors who give it out as a freebie. It makes it very easy to get your herb to whatever consistency works for you.

Davinci IQ Vaporizer Review

The Davinci IQ, which was released by the manufacturer, Davinci, at the end of 2016 is the third in a series of portable dry herb vaporizers. The first was called Davinci, like the company and it was released in 2012, followed by the Ascent in 2013. Many who have tried all three say that the IQ is the best so far. It incorporates a new design, Smart Path tech for different vaping modes, a zirconia ceramic bowl, a unique vapor path as well as a couple of mouthpieces. You can get it for $274.99 and you can choose between blue, copper, gunmetal and stealth. So why do so many people think that the Davinci IQ is so much better? I have done a full review here that will look at all that’s great about it and also whether there is anything not to like.

Davinci IQ Dimensions, Discretion, and Sturdiness

When you see the Davinci IQ online it is obvious that it is a small vaping unit, but I was surprised by how small it actually is when I finally received mine. Because it is of a sturdy build it feels a bit heavier (145 gm) than most people but that is a plus because it makes it a top quality vaporizer. In case you are looking for comparisons, the PAX 3 weighs 95 gm while the TI Grasshopper comes in at 55 gm.

Because of its size and weight, this unit is highly portable – it fits well in any pocket and it can easily be hidden in the palm for discretion when vaping. I do not want to overemphasize the point about the weight, but I must say that given the size of this unit if it was any lighter I would worry about it getting damaged in case I dropped it. It is also a good looking vaporizer, with all the buttons fitting nicely and the zirconia ceramic bowl sitting just right.

All in all, I would say that the size, weight, and look of this unit are just right. It is well designed, with every bit of space properly utilized, and it is worth every penny because it is made of materials that will last.

One of the things that determine discretion in a vaporizer is how strong the vapor smells. The IQ provides excellent tasting vapor but the smell is quite mild when compared to smell you get with other vaping units in the same category. It also has a nice LED display.

Battery and Charger, Smoking Pipes and Flavor Cavity

Word has it that there is a collector’s edition on the way that will include a glass jar, a carrying case, and the IQ, all of which will be in a nice wooden box. Although we don’t yet know the specs of the items that will be in this box or how much they will cost, the presentation is pretty impressive, as I am sure the collection will be too.

If you don’t want to wait for the collector’s edition you can buy the regular pack which includes the unit, a 3500aMh 18650 battery, a USB charger, the Zirconia chamber and 3 mouthpieces.

Ceramic Zirconia Pipes

The mouthpieces are worth talking about. Both give excellent tasting vapor, are easy to clean and maintain and they are made to last. One mouth piece is recessed and I like that better for carrying around since it is smaller and fits quite well in my pockets and also can be hidden away in my palm. That is not to say that there is anything wrong with the raised mouthpiece, which I use at home and which also fits quite snugly with 10 mm female and 14 mm male glass.

Davinci IQ Flavor Cavity

The Davinci IQ has a flavor chamber that is designed to add flavor to your vapor. It is located between the mouthpiece and the burning chamber right in the vapor path. I decided to try it and added, as per instructions, chunks of herb (not ground up). I noticed that it heats up only a little leaving the herb unburned. This is by design so that you can get additional flavor without burning herb. It did change color though from the usually green to a duller one after about 6 sessions. I wasn’t very impressed with it all but that is just me – I would suggest that you try it for yourself and see whether you like it or not. You can also add other flavorful herbs such as mint into it but so far I have been leaving mine empty and I like the experience I get with the IQ just fine.

I must, however, add that the flavor chamber provides more space for vapor to travel so that by the time it gets to your lips it is potent but smooth. Also, since it absorbs most of the condensed vapor it reduces the amount of debris that gets to your mouthpiece, keeping it cleaner for longer. It is quite easy to clean.

Vapor Type and Temperature Options

I must say that of all the portable convection vaporizers that I have tried, this one provides the best vapor I have tasted yet – dense, cool and full of flavor. The ceramic zirconia bowl definitely plays a role in this as does the flavor chamber. The conduction heater is pretty consistent and burns herb without any misses. In fact, unlike with other conduction vaping units where a big draw can cause them to be overpowered, this one just keeps going. It is also very efficient, and you will find that your herbs burn for longer but all the while giving you a very good flavor. You don’t even have to stir in order to burn all herb through – the unit is powerful enough. That said, you should not use this unit to vape on the go – for best results you should do sessions. If you really must have a draw on the go then I recommend that you stir your herb with the stirring tool (include in your kit) before you can start the session again.

Temperatures range from 250F to 430F and your unit will be ready for a drag in about 45 seconds. You can choose one of the 4 available Smart Paths or you can choose whatever temperature you feel is best. With either, you can use Boost mode for even higher temperatures in the heating unit.

IQ Smart Path Modes

Smart Paths are different heat modes. Each starts at a preselected temperature and then increases 20F over about 10 minutes. Whatever Smart Path you choose can be customized through the Davinci IQ app. I have tried all the Smart Paths and I find that I like 1 and 2 – I get great vapor taste and density. At settings 3 and 4, the clouds are bigger, but I find that I don’t like the taste very much. I have also found that using the autopilot, which allows me to try a variety of temperatures during one session I get an interesting experience. Keep in mind that different strains of herb require different temperatures to burn properly so for best results you should custom-set for whatever strains you use most often.

Default Temperatures

The first path runs between 350F and 370F with the others having an increment of 20F each. You get to the max tempo of a path about halfway through a session and it maintains that way right until the end. If you like you can use the app to customize so that you use all 4 paths just to mix things up a bit during your sessions.

Precision Setting

If you are not in the mood to mix things up then you can choose the precision mode. It allows you to set one temperature throughout your session which you can change anywhere along the way using a button – press it one and then use the temp button to choose your preferred heat setting.

Boost Feature

There is a button right at the top of the unit and if you hold it down you activate Boost more which turns the convection heater to full. Arrows appear on the Led to let you know that the heater is at full heat for that particular temp setting, and the temperature will gradually rise to the max 430F so long as you keep the button down. When you let it go the temperature will slowly revert to the original setting. This setting is useful if you want to get a little more kick from your vapor.

It is important to mention that the Davinci IQ has an auto-shutoff timer that kicks in after 10 minutes, but if you are not down you can press the control button to turn the unit on again.

Davinci IQ Mobile Phone App

Although the Davinci IQ comes with a very nice app you don’t actually need it to use your unit. It is, however, nice to have if you want to customize your sessions. I can say that although I am not a very big fan of apps this one has impressed me – it is smooth and contains lots of useful features without being clunky. Every feature that I have tried with this app has enhanced my experience with this unit. I like the fact that I can choose Smart Paths, change temperatures or pick one for a whole session. I also use Stealth Mode to dim LED’s which I find a little brighter than necessary. You can also dim the lights using the up and down buttons at once.

There are certain things you will not be able to do without the app – you will not be able to customize Smart Paths, you cannot turn off vibration alerts, get device stats such as usage time, average temperatures and more. You will also not be able to see how many times you have chosen Smart Paths. If you don’t mind these things then you may not really need the app, but I like it because it provides me with options.

Burning Chamber Information and How to Pack

Packing the chamber is easy and you will enjoy sessions more if you pack it full each time. I have tried it with loosely as well as a finely ground herb. I found that with loose grinds there is less vapor but low draw resistance, whereas when I used finely ground herb I got rich, dense flavor but there was drag resistance. You choose whatever you feel you can live with. I decided to do medium grinds so that I could get good vapor with minimal draw resistance. That said, I must add that compared to other vaping units in this category, the quality of vapor that I get with coarse grinds on this one is pretty good.

The manufacturer has introduced glass spacers which allow you to make your chamber smaller so that you can get the same quality of vapor while using less herb. I will definitely be investing in one of these.

Davinci IQ: Keeping it Clean

This vaporizer is pretty easy to clean and if you want it to give you great performance every time it is best that you empty the bowl after each use. You should also blow out the chamber to prevent build-up and make cleaning easier when you finally get to it. The flavor chamber, which acts as a kind of filter, is the one that needs to be cleaned most often but this is easy to do – pop it out, soak in isopropyl alcohol and wipe clean with a soft tissue. The mouthpieces don’t need to be cleaned as often as the flavor chamber but they need to be cleaned all the same. Again, a soak in isopropyl alcohol followed by a wipe is enough. You can clean the ceramic bowl after every 10 sessions.

Battery Charging and Different Ways to Charge

As I mentioned at the beginning, the Davinci IQ comes with a replaceable 3500aMh battery which lasts for between 50 and 80 minutes when fully charged. There is one thing that the manufacturer can improve – it takes 4 hours to get an empty battery full, and this can be less if they use the latest battery technologies. I managed to get around this by buying an external charger for about $10 as well as an extra battery. External chargers will take about 2 hours to charge a dead battery and the extra battery allows you to use your unit while the other one is charging.

Davinci IQ Vs: Crafty, PAX 3, Grasshopper

Some people may find the Davinci IQ to be a bit pricey at $274.99 but I find it worth every penny. At this price range, it is a good idea to see how it performs against other vaporizers in this category, which are Crafty, PAX 3 and Grasshopper.

Let us start with the PAX 3 which retails for $274.99. I like it best for when I will be doing outdoor activities because it is highly portable. It heats up fast – 15 seconds on average – uses conduction, and also uses an app. You get a 10-year warranty which tells you that this is a very durable vaporizer. I would say that based on these features the Davinci IQ and the PAX 3 are more or less the same when it comes to quality. I like the vapor from the IQ better than the PAX 3 because it is denser. I also like the removable battery that can be charged using an external charger. That said, the PAX 3 is smaller and lighter and has a very nice design.

Battery-wise the PAX 3 is also better as you get 100 minutes of use after charging the battery fully, which takes about 100 minutes. The IQ takes almost 3 times that to charge and you get between 50 and 80 minutes. If you really want a PAX but the PAX 3 is too expensive you can buy the PAX 2 which retails for $199. You will however not get an app, it has a smaller battery capacity and takes longer to heat up. However, it is a simple, durable device that delivers and it also comes with a 10-year warranty.

On to the Grasshopper which retails for $200. It is also highly portable and will fit nicely in the pocket. While it looks like a pen this vaporizer is very powerful. It uses convection heating and it will be ready for a draw in just 7 seconds. It has smaller batteries that are replaceable with a full temperature spectrum and you get a lifetime warranty (enough to tell you that it is of excellent quality). The only problem with the Grasshopper is that it takes a while to be delivered. After you pre-order be prepared to wait at least 3 weeks for delivery.

The Crafty, while small and portable cannot really compare to the IQ and the Grasshopper. It has a battery life of only 45 minutes and heats up in 90 seconds. However, the reason why so many people love the Crafty vaporizer is the vapor quality – it is tastier, denser and smoother than you would get with the Grasshopper or the IQ. It is also very consistent and easy to use.

Davinci IQ Conclusion

I must say that I am very impressed with the Davinci IQ. Like many people, I was anxious to see what Davinci would put on the market next and I am happy to see that they have done a great job. I like the quality of the unit itself, the design, the feel and the quality of the vapor. I also like the fact that it doesn’t waste any herb, which makes my stash last longer. The 10-year warranty is definitely a plus, and you can take comfort in the fact that it comes from a company with a long track record of good customer service.

The only problems I see with this unit are the fact that the manufacturer doesn’t include an external charger, and also the fact that people cannot use it for concentrates. If you are really into concentrates you can stash small pieces in the middle of your herb, or simply use another vaporizer for them. The unit can also get pretty heated with prolonged use, but not nearly as hot as some other brands in the market. In all, I would recommend it to anyone who can afford it.

Crafty Vaporizer Review

Storz and Bickel has made a reputation for itself as a manufacturer of top quality medical equipment and now they bring you the Crafty vaporizer which can easily qualify as best portable vaporizer in terms of quality of vapor, ease of carrying around, it is discreet, it has great design and looks and it is also easy to use. Storz and Bickel, you may want to keep in mind, is not new at this; before the Crafty it launched 3 other excellent vaporizers – the Mighty, the Volcano and the Plenty. The Crafty, however, is in a class of its own, and it often gets rated at 100+ which is better than any other vaporizer in the market. People not only love the unique features; they also like the fact that it is easy to use even for beginners.

To help you make up your mind as to whether it is really as good as everyone says it is I have done an in-depth review that will look at all the features. It is selling for $279 right now which may sound a bit steep but when you take into account the experience you get with this portable vaporizer you will find that it is totally worth every penny.

The Crafty Mobile Phone App

Today any vaporizer worth its name comes with an app that helps with settings. This one works on both android and iPhone and you and you can use it to switch between temperature selections, adjust the LED display, adjust vibration on the unit and you can also control the notifications that you get. You can even adjust the settings so that instead of getting the unit to vibrate when it is ready or a draw your phone vibrates instead. I have found that this particular feature has helped me save on herb. I also like that the app tells me total hours of usage – not vital to the vaping experience but definitely fun especially if you are a beginner (in case you’re curious I have used mine for 110 hours so far!). The app will also teach you about the different materials that you can use your vaporizer for and what temps are best for each.

Dimensions and Discretion

This is easily one of the most portable vaporizers in the market, measuring 4.3 inches in height and 2.2 inches wide. It is also quite light, weighing just 136 gm. It will fit in your jacket or pants pockets quite easily and hides away nicely in a bag or in a hoodie. It fits in the palm of the hand allowing you discretion when you are vaping. That said if you are looking for a really portable unit you may want to consider the PAX 3 which is even smaller and lighter, although it is harder to use and maintain.

Heating and Temp Options

You get 2 heat settings. The Default setting is 356F and you also get a Boost setting at 383F. Both of these can be adjusted between 104F and 410F through the mobile app. The unit takes a bit longer to heat up but I think that was by design. While it will take a couple of minutes to get to about 365F, the draws that you get at this temp are superb – consistent, thick vapor with no baby or ghost draws. This slower burning of the product ensures that you get the most out of every load, unlike others which burn faster but give you fast but inconsistent draws. Once the unit is heated up and ready for a draw it will vibrate to let you know, but you can set it so that you get a notification on your mobile phone instead.

Chamber, Usage Tips and How to Pack

I must say I like that you can pack quite a bit of herb into this little unit – ideally, you should be able to get about .25 grams in there. I tried more and was able to get .3 grams in, but I must say that it did affect the draw resistance a bit. However much you decide to get in there you can be sure of one thing – consistent draws of thick, dense, flavorful vapor. You can pack it loose or tight depending on how much draw resistance you can stand but you can expect the same results every time. One reason why the vapor is so rich is the fact that it has a cooling unit at the top, which lowers the temperature of the vapor and makes it denser right before you inhale it.

Battery

This vaporizer comes with a lithium ion battery, the latest in battery technology, which is rechargeable and gives you about 45 minutes of use (an average of 4 sessions). You can recharge it in 2 hours and you can even use it while it is charging so long as the battery is above 20%. The manufacturer can definitely do something to make a battery that lasts longer and charges faster but that said, kudos for the fact that because it has a USB charger you can charge it on your laptop at any time. You can also buy an additional battery for about $15.

How Does Crafty Compare to Mighty?

We mentioned at the beginning that Storz and Bickel produced the Might before the Crafty. After using both I can tell you that the biggest differences I have seen are the size of the units and battery duration – Crafty is smaller with a better battery life. The Might has its upsides too – it heats faster and maintains temperatures better especially if it is cold. The Mighty is more for heavy duty users but if you want a smaller device that you can use for just a few sessions a day then the Crafty is a much better deal. I would say that both of them are pretty good, the only major difference being portability. I choose the Crafty simply because it is smaller and the app makes it easy to adjust settings and also because I can conveniently charge it through my laptop.

If, however, portability is your thing you should be looking at the PAX 3 – it can fit into any pocket and in your palm without detection. If battery life is what you are after then the Davinci IQ might be best for you because it comes with a replaceable battery.

The Kit

You will get a number of cool accessories with the Crafty vaporizer: a cleaning brush, replacement seals, screens, a grinder and a filling aid which connects at the top of the unit and funnels herb into it to avoid spillage and wastage.

Warranty

The other thing I wish the manufacturer reconsidered is the warranty – right now it only lasts for 2 years, covering workmanship and defective manufacture. I don’t worry about this too much though as Storz and Bickel are known for solid products.

Conclusion

True, there are certain things that the manufacturer could have improved on this vaporizer but all in all, I would give it a rating of more than 9.6/10. I love the vapor quality, the fact that you never need to stir your herb and although the battery doesn’t last you can charge it on your laptop. It is also easy to maintain and first time users will find it a breeze to use. If you can afford it you should definitely go for it.

G Pen ELITE Review

The G Pen Elite vaporizer, one of the latest in the market, is a dry herb vaporizing unit that is brought to you by Grenco Science, the makers of the G Pen Herbal and Micro G Pen. The manufacturer describes it as a huge leap in vaporizer tech so I was very keen to try it out for myself. Although it is advertised as both a convection and conduction vaporizer, it actually heats only through conduction.

The G Pen comes in an ergonomic design that is highly portable, has an LED display that shows you both temperature and battery life and the heating chamber is made purely of ceramic. It is powered by a high-grade lithium battery and runs on smart chip technology making it one of the highest performing vaporizers in the market. Its size and design make it ideal for everyone.

Great For Dry Herbs and Long Vape Sessions

If you like to vape by taking a hit once in a while as opposed to relaxing and having a session then the G Pen Elite is not quite the unit for you – it is best for those who like vaping for a few minutes at least. It has a large ceramic chamber, in fact, the largest one available today. It allows for vaporization of herb from all directions using conduction. It is highly efficient as the ceramic doesn’t lose any heat at all. Temperature settings range from 200F to 428F so you start off at the lower end and keep adjusting until you get to one that brings out the flavors to your liking. Ask anyone who has used it and they will tell you that this unit provides a vaping experience like no other in term of both effects and taste.

The manufacturer included some smart features in the G Pen Elite. One of the coolest is that it shuts off itself automatically 5 minutes after you turn it on – don’t worry if the effects of your weed make you forget to turn off your device, it will go off by itself.

How to use the G Pen Elite

Even if you are new to vaping you will find that this unit is pretty easy to use. You will start by registering your device on the manufacturer’s website using a code that is on the packaging. It will confirm your one year warranty – Grenco Science will reimburse you if the product’s electronic components don’t perform as described. Next, you need to charge it and you do this by plugging it into a USB compatible battery charger that is included – you can use a computer to charge your unit. To load, take the mouthpiece off by lifting and then add your preferred blend. You will get better results if you use fine grinds because it maximizes contact with the oven walls. To turn your G Pen on you will need to press a button on the front panel at least 5 times. AG logo will come on. Now use buttons to choose your preferred temperature. Experienced vapers will tell you that you get best results by starting at a lower temperature and then gradually increasing it until you find the sweet spot.

Be careful not to overheat as it destroys some terpenes and cannabinoids. The best results are achieved at between 350 and 375F. To start the heating process hold down a button on the front panel and when you release it your selected temperature will kick in. As soon as you see the vapors start to be released you can take a hit. Don’t leave any herb in the chamber unburned.

Is it Right For The Price?

This is an excellent question since there are so many vape brands available in the market. The answer is that compared to others that offer a similar experience (PAX 2 for example), this one is cheaper but the vaping experience is smooth. It is also more user-friendly compared to some of the more complicated brands. In fact, it is better in some ways than the PAX 2. The mouthpiece, for example, doesn’t overheat the same way the PAX 2 does.

It also has a manual temperature control unlike the PAX 2 which allows you to focus on your device and nor spend time checking your unit and an app. You can finally control the heating to a degree of your liking to get the best flavor from your blend. Better yet, because of the large chamber, you can pack your g Pen Elite with about 1 gram of herb which means no need for refills.

What Is Not To Like?

A good review looks at the good and the bad so that readers can make up their own minds, and this one is no different. There are definitely some things about the G Pen Elite that Grenco Science can improve. The mouthpiece is one of them. True, its design means that it doesn’t get hot and burn you, but the silicon that it is made out of wears down over time – each time you open your unit to pack it with herbs or clean it there is wear and tear which becomes apparent before very long.

The other thing about the mouthpiece is that it becomes clogged with product resin with repeated use. I found this a big disappointment because the manufacturer doesn’t provide a second piece and neither do they give instructions on how to clean – I am still trying to figure it out, and the limited airflow is taking the joy out of my vaping sessions.

The battery life is the other thing that I’m not impressed with – it is much poorer than that of other similar vapers. I have found that if I vape 2 or 3 times a day the battery level falls to less than half. If you vape on a regular basis you have to charge it every night before you go to bed. This may not sound like a big deal but it will be if you are medicated and forget to charge only to wake up the next day and have to wait for the battery to charge.

Verdict

Despite the issues I have described above I am still very happy with the quality of vapor that my G Pen produces. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good, portable vaporizer with manual temperature settings. In fact, since it costs just $179 I would say that you are getting an excellent deal.

V2 Pro Series 3 Vaporizer Review

If you are looking for an easily concealable dry herb vape pen that works using conduction the solution may lie in the V2 Pro Series 3. Brought to you by manufacturer V2, it is expected to be the first in a series of dry herb vaping units and it also happens to be among the best in vaping pens. It has a sleek design that feels good in the hand, fits nicely in the pocket and best of all, you can use it for herbs, concentrates and even e-liquids. It heats up fast for those who want to vape on the go and those who have tried it say that it is easy to use.

Let us start at the most basic level – price: you can buy the V2 Pro Series 3 for $49.99 but if you are a fan of only herb you have to buy a loose leaf cartridge for $19.99, all of which comes to $59.99 which is still a lot cheaper when you compare it with other vaping units in the dry herb category.

You can go ahead and order one right away, but just to that you know exactly what you are getting let us go on and do a full review.

V2 Pro Series 3 Size/Portability

At about the size of a marker this happens to be one of the most portable dry herb vaporizers in the market. It measures just short of 5.63 inches with a diameter of .59 inches. It is also quite light – 50 grams which makes it a perfect fit for any pocket in your jacket or jeans. If you prefer e-liquids you will be happy to know that the cartridges for these are also rather small and can fit quite comfortably in your pocket. In all, you will be hard pressed to find a lighter vaping pen which comes in at the same price.

V2 Series 3 Heating and Temp Settings

As mentioned at the beginning, this vaporizer uses conduction to vaporize your herb, concentrates and e-liquid. You can choose temperatures ranging from 350F t0 375F. Your settings will be determined by several things: quality of herb, how fine you grind, draw speed, what kind of flavor you like best and so on. The best quality draws require you to heat for 15 to 30 seconds before you take your first hit, which is excellent when you consider that the average vaporizer requires 40 or more seconds.

It does come with an auto-off feature after 2 minutes. If it goes off before you are quite done you can turn it back on by holding the heating button down for a few seconds. As a seasoned vapor I wish that the automatic shutoff kicked in after 3 or 4 minutes so that I can have longer sessions but that is not a big deal when you take into account all the other cool features.

Series 3 Pro Chambers and Cartridges

The e-liquid cartridges hold up to 1.6 ml and can deliver 800 puffs of 2 seconds each. For loose leaf you get .1 grams which is just right for one person – you can share with one more but it won’t quite get you where you want to go. One great thing I have noticed is that I get a relatively brown burn without the need to stir the herb once.

V2 Pro S3 Battery and Charging

This vape pen has one of the best battery lives in the market. The 650mAh battery will 12, 2 minute sessions of dry herb vaping which is roughly 4 oven-fulls. You can charge the unit while using it (including with a USB charging cable) and you can get it back from the dead in about 2 hours. A wall and car charger will cost you $10 each.

Accessories

E-liquid cartridge pack – $49.99

Loose leaf cartridge – $19.99

Concentrate cartridge – $19.99

Extra e-liquid cartridge – $6.99

It helps if you can buy one or two extra dry herb cartridges so that you can pre-pack when you are going to be away for long periods. It is important to mention that for all accessories you are dealing with smart, magnetized cartridges that are very easy to plug into the device – in a matter of seconds they are ready for you to heat and puff.

V2 Pro Series 3 Warranty

You get 6 months on device, accessories and workmanship but cartridges are not covered.

V2 Pro Series 3 verdict

This is definitely a vaping device that is worth every dime you spend on it. It is one of the easiest to carry around and the sleek look and feel makes it worthwhile. It is also very easy to use – switching between loose leaf, concentrates and e-liquid cartridges is very easy since they are all designed to fit and are magnetized. The quality of vapor is superb. In fact, I like the fact that after I do loose leaf I can switch to e-liquid and produce vapor that gets rid of the smell of herb right away. The quality of the e-liquid vapor is also very good – smooth on the throat.

In comparison, the vapor from the herb cartridge isn’t as good but having tried so many other vape pens in the past I can tell you that it isn’t bad – although the flavor is good it isn’t as dense as I would like it to be. If the manufacturer can come up with a way to make it combust herbs better it will become one of the tops products in this category available today.

All in all, I would say that this is a good product for the light vaper or the beginner – it will help them get more seasoned for the more serious devices. When you take into account that you are getting a full set – herb, concentrate and e-liquid vaporizer – you will see that you are getting very good value for money. I would definitely recommend this vaporizer.

Pax 3 Review

For decades people searched for a discreet vaporizing device that would allow them to enjoy their weed and that they could hide away in their pockets. The PAX finally arrived 10 years ago and it transformed the cannabis world. It was so successful that the manufacturer, PAX Labs (originally known as Ploom) released a newer version, PAX 2 which had new features and was even smaller than the original. Today, we will be looking into the PAX 3 to see just how much better it is than the second release.

I ordered it not too long ago and I am expecting it to arrive any time now so that I can see just how good it is. It comes in black, rose gold and silver and I chose a black piece that is quite shiny. Just to compare, this piece makes the PAX 2 look like it has a matte finish. It is important to note that the price of the PAX 2 has currently dropped to $200 but before you rush off and buy read this review to the end.

Immediately it arrives I notice just how shiny it is. Although it looks a lot like the PAX 2 it comes with additional attachments one of them which allows for vaping of concentrates – I am really looking forward to trying this out. Another pleasant surprise is that it comes with an app that allows you to customize temperatures through your smartphone – this really is the future. It also comes with games to keep you occupied, an exciting feature but since you are reading this to learn more about the vaping experience let us get on with it!

Half Baked

One thing that I didn’t like about the PAX 2 was that to get a good vaping session you have to pack it full of herb. The PAX 3 takes care of this problem because it comes with a half-pack oven, thus a smaller chamber meaning that you use less herb. This is great because a fully packed chamber is way too much for a single vaping session – my stash will last longer with this new device. But does this affect the quality of the vape?

PAX 3 with Dry Herb

I can say that the experience is very much like what you would get with the PAX 2 but better because I use only half the herb. The PAX 2 needs a bowl’s worth which is too much even for experienced vapers like myself. It also has better efficiency – almost nothing goes to waste. The taste is great – very much like the PAX 2. You will have a much better taste if you vape flowers instead of leaves because you will taste all the tarpene profiles and you can even tell different weed strains apart just from their taste. In fact, many people will tell you that once you vape flowers you will never want to vape leaves again.

In case you are wondering about the settings on my PAX 3, I started at the 2nd lowest temp setting and then cranked it up from there. If I decide to have a long session I will stir the flowers in the chamber and increase the temperature gradually to the 3rd setting and higher if need be. You will know that the vaping session is coming to an end because the flavor starts to taper off. You can stop there or you can fill your chamber again and have another go – any PAX can go for several sessions at a go.

When I compare my experience of vaping dry herb using PAX 2 and PAX 3, I find that I prefer the PAX 3 because I have better control over the temperature settings and I use less herb. The rest is otherwise the same – both give a smooth and steady stream.

PAX 3 with Concentrates

As I mentioned at the beginning, I have really been looking forward to using concentrates on my new PAX 3. I will load it up with a tiny amount of wax into the concentrates chamber and see just how good this new additional feature is. The one thing I notice about the concentrates chamber is that unlike the herb chamber which sits smug inside the device this one sticks out from the bottom. Not to worry though, I’m sure the manufacturer thought things through.

So my wax is in the chamber; the instructions say that for concentrates you should turn the temperature to the highest setting so that is what I have done. I can already smell that something is happening so it is time to take a puff and see what we get. Wow! It is very much like you would get with dry herb – nice, smooth drags of vapor without the clouds that you would get with wax vape pens that have coils such as Kandypen.

The experience itself is remarkable – I can feel the effects slowly getting hold of me and going deep without taking over. There is no burning in the throat from angry clouds and I haven’t come across a baby hit or a ghost hit so far. I can tell that this device is designed for those who are looking to enjoy the flavor of different concentrates so feel free to try it on a variety of new ones. Don’t be shy to experiment either. I haven’t choked once – it’s been smooth all the way. I am impressed with the way the way the temperature burns through the concentrate.

The PAX 3 is impressive in the way it burns both dry herb and wax – the experience is very much the same. Regardless of whatever you vape it is smooth and lasting with nothing going to waste. Using a vape pen I get 3 or 4 hits with a tiny piece of wax but with the PAX 3, I managed to keep going for 15 minutes. I can see that my concentrates will last a lot longer but I must say that after a while the device does heat up.

Cleaning the concentrates chamber is pretty easy. I recommend that you vape as much wax as possible before you pull out the chamber and soak it in alcohol for a couple of minutes and the rinse. It will clean out quite well regardless of how messy it is.

Red light, green light…

One of the reasons why people loved the PAX was it allowed for stop-and-go vaping – you could load, vape, put it down and get back to it an hour or two later, stir and keep vaping. The only problem with this is that herb tends to get sticky just sitting there, but you can avoid this if you use concentrated instead – they will sit well and when you get back to them your session will be as smooth as if you had never stopped. You can do this multiple times without affecting the quality of your vaping sessions.

Pax vapor app

The PAX 3 app is really cool – it connects through Bluetooth and you only have to connect it once. It has been called the iPod of vaporizers because of all the cool features that it has – you can even name your PAX 3. It allows you to dial your preferred temperature to the device and you can vape in different modes: Boost, Flavor, Stealth, and Efficiency.

Boost: Automatic cooling is reduced (be warned that your device can get quite hot if you choose this setting).

Stealth: Allows lights to dim and cooling is increased for vaping diehards.

Efficiency: Allows temperature to increase gradually.

Flavor: Provides extra heating to maximize on flavor.

The app also has a Haptics feature that makes the vaporizer vibrate once it is ready to be used. You can turn it to medium or high using the app. There are a few other features that will be made public once the PAX 3 is available in the market.

PAX 3 vs. PAX 2

We have mentioned several times that the PAX 3 and PAX 2 are quite similar but there are some differences. The first one I notice is that the PAX 3 heats up a little faster. Also, the air path may be bigger since the draw feels a little bit looser. When it comes to vapor production, however, these two models are pretty much the same. The other thing I noticed while cleaning out the PAX 3 after my session was how evenly cooked the herb was – all of it was a uniform golden brown color, almost like it had been stuck in an oven.

As for appearances, the PAX 3 and PAX 2 are very similar in height and width. The manufacturer says that the PAX 3 has a better battery life but I cannot say that I have noticed much of a difference. The oven is more powerful than the PAX 2 but that has a drawback – it does tend to get rather hot.

What I like about the PAX 3

• Great battery life
• Half-pack option
• Vaporizes dry herb and waxy concentrates
• Very portable and discrete
• 10-year warranty
• Bluetooth app
• Multiple modes
• Easy to maintain and clean
• Compatible with PAX 2 charger

What I don’t like

• The manufacturer could have included a pass-thru charging function.
• The concentrates chamber sticks out at the bottom instead of fitting snugly in the device. It doesn’t make much of a difference in terms of vaping experience but would have made for a better-looking piece.
• The concentrates chamber is made up of tiny, little parts which are probably what make it get quite heated up during extended vaping sessions.
• The whole device gets hot after a long vaping session.
• I don’t much like the fingerprint magnet finish.
• Compared to other vaporizers it is pricey, but keep in mind that the manufacturer has lowered the price point recently.

Verdict

You already spent $300 on a PAX 2, should you be looking to buy the PAX 3? I am an experienced vaper myself and I would say that if you have the money you should go ahead and buy one – it is worth every dime you will spend on it. If you don’t already have a PAX and are looking to get more out of your vaping sessions then save up and buy yourself the PAX 3. Not only will you enjoy vaping more, you will use less herb or concentrate with each session, saving money in the long term.

If you are only looking to vape concentrates I would say that you should probably wait – it is quite likely that the manufacturer will release an oven as an accessory sooner or later. The app also makes this device worthwhile – you can control your temperature settings easily and the different vaping modes allow for a variety of experiences.

You will also love just how portable this vaporizer is – it packs away quite nicely, and because you use less herb and concentrate you won’t have much to carry around.

If money is really an issue (it can be because the PAX 3 is not cheap) don’t give up. PAX Labs has lowered the price of the PAX 2. True, it doesn’t have an oven for concentrates but you can easily buy a half-pack oven on the PAX website for less than $15.

In all, I highly recommend this vaporizer to anyone who can afford it. It is expensive but the experience you will get with it is definitely worth it. PAX Labs have made long lasting vaporizers in the past and I don’t expect this to be any different. Keep in mind that if you want to make the most of it, you should be looking to vape flowers and not leaves – it brings out the flavors in a very unique and exciting way. Shop for different strains for a variety of vaping experiences.
